PML received an initial project approval today from the New York State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). SHPO is part of the Division for Historic Preservation within the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. They help communities identify, evaluate, protect, and revitalize cultural, archaeological, and historic resources across the state. We will coordinate with them throughout the project lifecycle to ensure that the changes we make are consistent with the historic nature of our building.

$1 Million NY Forward Award on the way to Peck Memorial Library
Peck Memorial Library (PML) was one of the six projects in Marathon NY announced by Gov. Kathy Hochul today to receive a Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI)/New York Forward (NYF) award. Of the $4.5 million awarded to the Village of Marathon, $1 million was designated for the Peck Memorial Revitalization Project. This starts us on our way in realizing the renovation of the building’s historic envelope, resolving long-standing structural issues, introducing comprehensive ADA accessibility updates and restoring and reopening the second-floor Opera House as a flexible programming, gathering, and performance space for the community.
